The Indiana Pacers are hoping to acquire the New Orleans Pelicans guard to replace Tyrese Haliburton for the remainder of the NBA season.
The Indiana Pacers won’t be too happy about the start to the NBA season. The Pacers, who miraculously made it to the NBA Finals, will start the season with 1 win and 10 losses.
Tyrese Haliburton ruptured his Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals, effectively ruling him out of the 2025-26 NBA season.

During his absence, the Pacers turned to some new stars to fill the gap. The Pacers struck gold with Quentin Jackson, but he can’t be a long-term solution for them.
However, the Pacers’ front office appears to have identified a player they would like to bring in to play Haliburton’s spot.
Jake Fischer has released a comprehensive report on NBA trades. While talking about the Indiana Pacers, Fisher divulged some interesting information.
The Indiana Pacers are reportedly eyeing New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado, who could bring a level of defensive stability to the team.
“Indiana State was looking for point guard help after spending the season without Tyrese Haliburton following Haliburton’s Achilles tendon tear.
“Sources say another name to keep an eye on for the Pacers is New Orleans guard Jose Alvarado. I’ve heard Indiana has been keeping tabs on the defensive pest throughout the early part of the season.”
Alvarado could be a solid addition to the team in the short term. But he is too similar to TJ McConnell, and there are concerns that he will be flocked to the second guard position when Tyrese Haliburton returns.
As if things weren’t bad enough for the Indiana Pacers, they suffered an even more devastating blow during last night’s game against the Phoenix Suns.
Aaron Nesmith suffered a gruesome injury against the Suns and had to return to the locker room immediately.
Nesmith is averaging 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists for the Indiana Pacers this season.
The prognosis for Nesmith’s injury is currently unknown, but if the injury is serious, he will be sidelined for some time, which would be a devastating blow to the Pacers.
The Pacers are already weak at the guard spot, and losing a scoring presence like Nesmith will only make things more difficult for them.
