Alex Pallow won his seventh victory in the 2025 IndyCar season after his competitors allowed him to take the lead after Colton Hertha’s attention.

He sat in third place behind Joseph Newgarden and David Marcus. Both pitted after Newgarden was baited at the pit stop when Marcus decided to pull the trigger and try an undercut.

Newgarden lost Marca’s lead in doing so, but ultimately it was insignificant as the attention brought by Hertha dropped the two drivers in the 8th and 9th, neither of which could heal and Palou could not give the flag any wind.

As he jumped out of the car, Palou spoke to FS1 and said, “It’s been an incredible weekend, but more than anything, it’s an incredible year.

“I can’t honestly believe it and winning here is very special. Today I struggled with a short egg for a long time.

“Another win in one year, seven wins, seven wins, that’s insane.”

With the reboot, Marcus returned to fourth, but New Garden seems unable to find the lightning pace that seemed to have helped him at two different points.

Alex Pallow led the field after qualifying at pole, but was immediately warned after Scott McLaughlin lost the rear from the turn of the lap and was caught up in a collision with Devlin DeFrannsko.

Defrancesco clipped McLaughlin to the left rear and took him out trying to copy the epic recovery drive he made on yesterday’s Synk 275.

In the pit lane, McLaughlin told FS1:

“I would have just been going through (and probably passed unharmed), but I cut it there, and unfortunately that’s what it is.

“There are some negatives this weekend, but I’ll be actively taking this accusation in Toronto yesterday.”

McLaughlin was not an early retirement, but along with Pensuke’s teammates, he came to power after suffering from engine problems.

Power was a very risqué moment before engine problems, surpassing Marca in the third.

Droping it to the low line, New Garden left it as the only running pen ske driver who did no or nothing to lace due to his struggling outfit.

Speaking to FS1, it seemed to have been created and said, “Yesterday it improved. (i) I felt there was a great race.

“We keep throwing away days where there’s a car to win. We just have a season to speculate. There’s not much we can do.”

A third warning rang after Ray Robb crashed into the wall. This opened the door to the first pit stop window when everyone fell into the pit lane.

Upon rebooting, Newgarden became aggressive against Palou and made a clear intention to win as he overtook the championship leader on lap 66.

Palou weaved through traffic and stuck to New Garden, but David Marcus began to get caught up in the championship leadership and began challenging him for second place.

A fierce scrap, Marcus managed to get its position outside the high line, being obtained by Palou.

Despite New Garden building a big lead, his decision to pile up moments before attention was paid by Marcus Erickson, who hit the wall, meant that the race leader had dropped to 13th and his competitors were able to pit carefully.

New Garden began chasing how to return up to 10 laps before, paying another caution for the two in Iowa after crashing at the closure stage of Sink 275 yesterday.

While the pit crew prepared for another round in the pit lane, Ilot’s front nose blocked the pit entry and no one could enter.

Once cleared, the leader entered Pit Road, but Kyle Kirkwood was the only driver to decide to pay attention to receive guidance.

New Garden could be climbed up to eight times, continuing after yesterday’s winner O’Ward turned green and then the track turned green.

Oward’s lost position in the third round of the pit stop dropped the podium fifth, allowing Daly to go up to the podium.

He also took the pit under the green alongside Newgarden and Marca in the final stages of the race, and O’ward was unable to win a double victory at Iowa, finishing fifth behind Marcas.

On reboot, Alex Palou almost lost position to Marcus before becoming wheel-to-wheel along with Kirkwood, who held the inner line throughout the lap while Palou was about to pass.

Kirkwood eventually gave up the lead soon by Marcus and Daly.

Fifty laps, New Garden overtakes Daly and after Daly began to struggle with the tires, Oward can swing and put himself in fourth.

Five seconds after Palou, Newgarden was able to push hard on a clear track, and began to scythe behind Marca and Palou in time and rap.

Having struggled through traffic, New Garden passed Paloo and past the lead, falling to third behind Marcus after Paloo reached the high line while passing New Garden.

Sitting in second place, Marcus changed the race after pitting for the fourth time.

But like his teammates, Colton Hertha had a tire breakdown in front of him, so the decision to be outside of Paloo turned out to be very important.

This was the third Andretti car to suffer from blowing tires this weekend.

The decision to pit under the green promoted Marca, Newgarden and Oward for the ninth, 10 and 11, and Marcus Armstrong and Scott Dixon to the second and third.

Dixon was poised to take the lead if Parow made a mistake like Mid Ohio, but there was no such opportunity, meaning Dixon had to settle down to finish behind his teammates.

Speaking to FS1, Dixon said: “Yesterday we were frustrated that we couldn’t use the high line so we tried to fix it.

“When we did it, the car was very fast. I think it was another stint you know, I think it would have been a bit fun.

“We needed a longer race today, but we praised everyone with PNC Bank No. 9 and got a 1-2 for (chip) Ganasi.

In third place was Marcus Armstrong’s first podium of the season.

After the race, he believed he and the team began to find their feet throughout the end of yesterday’s race, after he said, “We’re going to have a good day.”

“We’ve saved fuel for two races that are waiting for that situation at the end,” Armstrong explained.

“Overall, we did an amazing job. I think Meyershank crew, No. 66, did an amazing job in the pit lane. We were one of the benchmarks here, so I’m really happy.”
