LOS ANGELES – Ingrid Lindblad took the lead over the weekend at El Carrero Country Club in his fourth start of his rookie season on the LPGA Tour.
Lindblad filmed a career-high 9-under 63 in cool conditions on Friday afternoon and took part in Ashleigh Buhai on the leaderboard at 13-under 131 of the JM Eagle LA Championship.
Lindblad, a 25-year-old former LSU star from Sweden, said: “It’s obviously hard to tell exactly when it will be displayed, but obviously I feel like I’m working on something good in the golf game.
On a cloudy day, temperatures simply climbed to the low ’60s, and Lindblad had 10 birdies and bogies in the first 14 holes. She swung the Final Four.
“I thought I read Green really well,” Lindblad said. “It wasn’t like a tap-in on Pal. It was 10 footers, 17 footers. I read Green really well. I thought I had good speed on Green.
Buhai had the lead for the second day in a row after opening at 63 in line with Yang Liu. The 35-year-old South African player interpreted his final five holes at 68 on Friday. She won the 2022 Women’s British Open, the first of two LPGA Tour victories.
Minjee Lee was under 12 after 65am. She won the 2019 tournament at the Wilshire Country Club.
“I think I’m just going to be in the right place from the tee and obviously just hitting a good iron shot on the Greens,” Lee said. “Part of the green is a little bigger and there’s a bigger landing spot.”
The tournament is being held in El Carrero for renovations in Wilshire. I’ll be back in Wilshire next season.
Liu pitched 70 to fourth under 11 with Lauren Cofflin (67) and Yamashita (65).
Top Rank Nelly Korda was under nine after 68 in the final start before next week’s title defense at Houston in Chevron’s major championship.
“I spent a bit of time in the middle of the front nine, after a hiccup, with a bit of a stupid double and a bogey backing up it,” Korda said. “So I fought my way up to the nineth inning and played some solid golf on the back nine.”
Jeeno Thitikul, who came in second place, was under 9 years old, and filmed 67.
Two-time defending champion Hanna Green was 8 years old, 67.
Asterisk Tully, a 16-year-old Californian who plays on sponsor exemptions, shot 69-72 and missed the cut with a stroke. She was the most recent runner-up in Augusta National Women’s Amateur, and was second last year at US women’s junior El Caballero.
