Maverick Venales misses the rest of the German Motogup after maintaining a fractured shoulder that was dislocated on the intense high side during a wet qualifying session at the Saxenling on Saturday.
The Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider had just progressed to pole position shootouts since the first quarter, but crashed on his out lap on Turn 4.
Maverick Venares was able to leave, but the initial check on the circuit confirmed a dislocation of his left shoulder and he quickly returned to the track.
Suspicion of a small fracture, the doctor sent Venares to a local hospital where a break was confirmed.
The injury left Tech3 without a rider on the MotoGP grid this weekend, with teammate Enea Bastianini already on the sidelines following appendicitis.
Vinaru: “There’s a good chance he’s in the front row.”
“It’s in pain, of course, but overall I feel better,” said Vinaru, who saw the race from the Tech3 garage.
“Most importantly, I am truly disappointed because I can’t see the end of the weekend here.
“This morning we reached Q2 from P2, Q1 on FP2. I think we are most likely in the front row.
“I know it’s coming, so we need to keep believing and keep pushing.”
Goyoung: “Incredible bad luck for Tech3”
“This weekend, this is an incredible bad luck for the three Red Bull KTM Tech teams,” said team manager Nicholas Goyong.
“KTM usually works well with the Saxenring, so we arrived in Germany with hope.
“All eyes were focused on Maverick Venares, as I realized that Appendicitis would miss this round to force him to stay in hospital.
“He didn’t miss anything on Friday (top), but he knew he had a pace, but weather conditions could change the game.
“He went through Q2 with a solid Q1, but unfortunately he crashed his left shoulder and injured him.
“Now he is evaluating his options to recover. We have to wait a little while to understand our situation more.
“The riders aren’t suitable for racing, so sadly, tomorrow there’s no bike on the grid.
“We hope both Enea and Maverick have a quick recovery. We really hope they will come back with them as soon as possible.”
Bastianini’s condition is improving, but Vinales’ injuries have raised questions about his participation in next weekend’s Czech Grand Prix at Brno, the final event before MotoGP’s summer vacation.
