Liverpool won’t be overly busy this summer, but one deal they are pursuing includes Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wiltz. The Premier League champions are very interested in adding German International to Arne Slot’s team, and there is hope for the Anfield club despite Bayern Munich’s desperate efforts to finish his contract.
In his exclusive catch-offside column, Christian Faulk revealed that Bayern Munich believes Liverpool can get closer than they can to pay Wiltz’s asking price.
“I believe Bayern Munich has the Wirtz family’s words to join Bayern in 2025 or 2026. But now there’s a bit of terror within clubs around Liverpool, because they didn’t think the Red would give up a lot of money. Liverpool is very open about this transfer game.
“This is what happens right away with Bayern. The club will hold a meeting in Tegernsey. Uli Whens has a home here. Here we want to do business with our family. But with Liverpool’s efforts, Michael Edwards and the company are visiting Boston to discuss the deal.
“I heard Vincent Company has already spoken with Whartz and showed him where he plays in the squad. So, you know, everything is really specific. I think Bayern’s efforts are still very serious. Of course, the club is one of the biggest clubs in the world, but for example, this isn’t as big as you would expect, so everything about other clubs like Liverpool can look big because the youth teams aren’t in the same place.
It is still unclear whether Liverpool will be able to land Wirtz, but if so, he will be an outstanding signature.
