The transfer window for the summer of 2025 may just have closed, but Man United is already thinking about their next signature.
Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens arrived in Old Trafford in the summer, but this was not enough for Man United to address all their needs. However, once the transfer window reopens in 2026, work is already underway to address one of these.
Plans to sign a new goalkeeper
According to TeamTalk, Dean Jones has revealed that he intends to sign another goalkeeper in 2026, despite Man United just bringing in the Lammens.
“Lammens is not a long-term guaranteed first-choice goalkeeper, but he gave him the chance to be number one in the next game, and that’s all he can expect and focus on now.
“I personally think he gave himself an edge when it came to fighting Liverpool after an international break because I felt the decision to have him well up this weekend.
“I’m sure the new goalkeeper will arrive by summer, and if they can find a good option they may arrive in January. Again, this is about competition and strength. While Runmen knows the club is valuing him in the long term, he also recognizes he has to play very well on a consistent foundation to keep his shirt up.”
Runmen was impressed after arriving at Man United, but it doesn’t seem to be enough to become the club’s number one for years to come. It is not a look at who has arrived in 2026 that is expected to be options considered in the sports sector, such as Emi Martinez and Mike Maignan.
