According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur is targeting an ambitious move to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United this summer.
The Spurs are trying to take advantage of the situation if Rashford wants to take the 27-year-old attacker to the club if his move to Aston Villa collapses.
The Spurs began an internal discussion about what it would take to take Rashford to North London if the proposed move to Aston Villa collapses.
Former Manchester United and Tottenham Scout Mick Brown argues that while the Spurs are serious about the possibility, the deal is now considered highly unlikely.
“Tottenham is considering what it takes to sign Rashford.” He told the soccer insider.
“But they have to decide which direction they are going.
“We can’t throw a lot of players in and hope that works. They need to find some stability, and I don’t think that’s what Marcus gives them.
“From what I’ve heard, he’s not sure of the move either.
“He wants to play Champions League football and compete at the highest level.
“I don’t know if he wants to cut his big pay.
“And also, Tottenham is not going to pay wages, and I think that will be a problem for him.
“So it looks like it’s difficult to do. I honestly don’t think he’ll end up with Tottenham.”
Marcus Rashford leaves Man United forever?
One of the major stumblings is Rashford’s ambition to continue playing at the highest level.
Sources close to England International have revealed that he would like to feature in the Champions League. This is something that cannot be guaranteed unless Tottenham wins the Europa League this season.
Additionally, Rashford’s wages at United are reportedly about £350,000 a week, presenting another major obstacle.
Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy prepares for a busy summer with a focus on smart recruitment to build a team that can consistently challenge Champions League qualifications.
Rashford is one of the players they want, but the dynamics around signing him don’t support them.
The English attacker is expected to leave United forever this summer.
