Los Angeles right-hander Matt Sauer is with the San Diego team, according to athletics Fabian Alda. The have not been selected as the starter for Tuesday’s game at Petco Park. That may be why Sauer joined the major league team.

Sauer could be with on Taxi Squad before being officially called out to start on Tuesday. Tony Gonzorin was originally scheduled to face the Padres on Tuesday. However, the 31-year-old was placed on the list of injured people over the weekend with discomfort in his right elbow.
With Gonsorin’s departure, the ‘ rotation was only a three-man staple starter, Ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Clayton Carshaw and Dustin May.
In seven major league games this season, Sauer won a 3.05 ERA with 13 strikeouts and a 0.919 whips pitched in 20.2 innings. The right-hander appears to be off to one start for the this season and is on track to make his second year against his bitter LA rival.
This season’s Triple A Oklahoma City boasts a 3.97 ERA with 20 strikeouts and 1.147 whips in five starts.
Sauer was last recalled when the placed Star Reliver Evan Phillips in Illinois in early May.
