Rajat Patidar leads star-studded RCB at IPL 2025
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has released skipper Faf Duplesis ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction.
There was speculation that Virat Kohli could be reappointed as the skipper of Royal Challenger Bengaluru (RCB), who abandoned his captain a few years ago, as the RCB has not gone all out looking for a big name in India.
However, that didn’t happen as Madhya Pradesh batsman Rajat Patidha, one of the players held by the franchise, became the new captain of the team in IPL 2025.
In particular, Patider has done a good job for the RCB over the past few years, demonstrating his ability as a leader in domestic cricket.
Virat Kohli Bhai didn’t want to ship the captain – Jitesh Sharma
Jitesh Sharma, which was purchased by Royal Challenger Bengaluru (RCB) at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction for $11 trillion, speculated that Kohli had denied Captaincy because he had not played a permanent role in the past few years.
Jitesh Sharma knew the fact that Rajat Patidar was in the race for the captain, but added that he only knew about his official appointment when the franchise made the public announcement. Speaking about the Cricxtasy podcast, he said:
“We learned that Rajat Patidar will be captain.
“I don’t know why he didn’t want a captain. I’m not in the management aspect of things. When I am, I will let you know. But he hasn’t been a captain in the past two or three years so I felt he won’t do that this year either.
Virat is very friendly – Jitesh Sharma
Jitesh Sharma also reveals the realistic nature of Virat Kohli, sharing his knowledge with the players, saying he is very friendly.
“Yeah, Virat is very friendly. It can be difficult for outsiders, but for our players, that’s not the case. We ask him about the game. I remember Mohali’s PBK and RCB match. I got about 42 and we collapsed. I lost on a 10-20 run. I approached him and introduced myself. He said I know who you are. I asked him a few questions and he really explained them well.”
“I asked how to be more consistent in the T20. He replied that reading the wickets on shots being played helps you become more consistent. It helped me choose my shots. He has a huge knowledge of the game, but I have to be wise and intelligent enough to absorb it.”
