The Indian Cricket Committee (BCCI) will soon reveal a list of central contract players. However, wicketkeeper butter Ishan Kishan is not expected to be on this list as the Indian cricket committee believes he hasn’t done enough to win the 2024-25-year central contract.
Shreyas Ayer and Ishan Kishan were removed from the list of central contracts from the previous season as they were unable to participate in domestic cricket matches. Shreyas was revived in domestic cricket, securing a place for the Indian cricket team. However, Kishan has yet to regain her place.
Ishan Kishan succumbed from the central contract between 2024 and 25.
According to a report by Sports Tak, BCCI believes Ishan Kishan has made an effort to address his concerns, but hasn’t done enough to regain his spot on the list of players he has signed at the center. Kishan still has to prove herself even more in order to regain her position.
“He still has to wait for his return to the central contract. He has been working to sort out the issues, but he hasn’t done enough to get back to his position,” a source told Sports Tak.
Ishan Kishan has not played in India in any format since November 2023
Ishan Kishan has not played in India in any form since November 2023. He returned to India during his tour of South Africa and missed the 2023-24 domestic season. However, he played for Jharkhand in all formats in the 2024-25 season and was selected for the Indian ‘A’ team for the Australian tour.
Kishan retreated from the international tour in late 2023 due to travel fatigue and was trained with Hardik and Krunal Pandya in Gujarat, India’s Premier League. Despite being part of India’s 2023 World Cup team, he was not awarded a central contract.
According to BCCI standards, male players must play a minimum number of international matches to qualify for a central contract. 3 tests, 8 ODIs, or 10 T20Is within a year. Kishan has not participated in international cricket since late 2023, so there is little chance of securing a contract.
