After 40 overs, the match entered the super, where Arshdeep Singh showed his class and rejected two Sri Lankan batters with just two runs, and India won the match with the first ball of the super.
However, the first super was filled with big controversy as Dasun Shanaka was not abolished, despite having come out of the fold when Sanju Samson hit the stump.
On the fourth ball in the overs, Arshdeep Singh bowled Dasun Shanaka with a yoker length delivery outside the stump.
He took off for a single for some reason, and Sanju Samsung quickly threw it on the stump and caught Shanaka from the crease. The Indian players began walking from the field thinking they had already taken two wickets, but not so, the players were recalled.
This is because the ball died when the judge made his decision because the judge actually got caught up in the back. Therefore, runouts were not considered.
Suryakumar Yadav was confused by the judge’s decision and chatted with judge Gazi Sohel for a long time. Furthermore, Dasun Shanaka used the review and found that in the replay there was no connection between the bat and the ball. Meanwhile, the drama didn’t benefit Sri Lanka as Dasun Shanaka fell to the next ball.

Irfan Patan explains the rules after Dasun Shanaka escapes
Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Patan also used the X to explain the rules that will help Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka survive. He said that what was caught behind the judge’s decision, along with review, caused the ball to die and helped Dasun Shanaka survive.
“The ball is dead as it gets caught up in the back and is reviewed, and umpire Gazi Sohel informs Team India of his points. The first decision is always standing. When handed out by the umpire at the end of the bowler, the ball is dead.

India is set to face Pakistan in the Asian Cup 2025 Final
The outcome of the match against Sri Lanka did not affect India’s position in the tournament as he had already made his appearance in the Asian Cup 2025 Finals after winning the first two matches against Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Pakistan won their spot in the Asian Cup final with a narrow 11-run victory in Bangladesh. It was their second victory in the Super 4 stage and their first victory came against Sri Lanka.
Currently, India and Pakistan will clash in the high voltage final of the Asian Cup 2025 in Dubai on Sunday, September 28th. This is the first time in Asian Cup history that two arch rivals have collided in a summit crash.
In particular, India was the most successful team in the Asian Cup, with eight trophies in the cabinet, and the green men also won two championships.
But surprisingly, they never face each other in a title showdown, but that changes quickly. In the first instance in 41 years, we saw India vs Pakistan in the Asian Cup final.
The Indian team has not had a very good record against Pakistan in the tournament finals as they clashed five times in the summit clash.
