Ipswichtown striker Liam Dellup has linked his move away from the club at the end of the season and could potentially join a larger club in the summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, players could join either Manchester United or Chelsea in the summer. Other European clubs are also keen to secure his signature, but the Premier League giants seem to be in pole position now to secure his signature.
Romano revealed to GMS: “It’s right now between Man United and Chelsea, both of whom are keen to sign players. They’re ahead of the Bundesliga club.”
Delap has been doing very well for Ipswich this season, making 14 target contributions to his name. He proved to be a quality long-term acquisition of Manchester United or Chelsea.
The former Manchester City striker is likely to improve with his coaching and experience, and has all the tools to develop into a top-class Premier League striker. He was recently urged to consider a move to Aston Villa.
Man United and Chelsea need Liam Dellup
It is no secret that Manchester United need quality goals. Joshua Zilkie and Rasmus Hozilund were extremely overwhelming for the Red Devils. Delap has been well established in the Premier League and he was able to help improve his offense. Regular football with big clubs can help improve Delap as well.
As far as Chelsea is concerned, they have Nicholas Jackson at their disposal, but they need more quality to attack. Delap is able to compete with him for the starting spot and ultimately establish himself as the Blues’ first choice striker.
Ipswich is planning to go to the championship in the summer, and it’s unlikely they’ll be able to hold onto the young striker.
