Arsenal legend David Seaman has praised summer signing Victor Goqueres, who has improved his form by scoring twice in this week’s Champions League win over Atletico Madrid.
The Sweden international arrived at Arsenal from Sporting Lisbon this summer on the back of a frankly ridiculous 97 goals in 102 games during his two years in Portugal, earning him a huge reputation.
It hasn’t been all that easy for Gokeres at Arsenal so far, with the 27-year-old scoring five goals in his first 12 games in all competitions.
Still, Seaman is optimistic about what Joekeles can achieve and the former Gunners goalkeeper expects him to score plenty of goals if he continues to perform as well as he has.

Seaman is impressed with Gokeres even when he’s not scoring goals, praising his work rate and physicality.
“He’s getting used to the team, he’s getting used to his teammates, he’s getting used to the pace of the Premier League,” Seaman said in an interview with talkSPORT, as reported by Metro.
Arsenal almost lost him, but now he’s player of the season – how the transfer window has rewritten the Gunners star’s career
“This is something that many players, especially foreign players, find it very difficult to get used to the pace and physicality when they first come.
“As we’ve seen, Gokeres like to get a little physical out there, so give them time.
“He’s getting better and better and healthier. I’m sure there will be more goals.”
Are Arsenal going to see the best from Gokeres?
It was probably always a little unthinkable that Gokeres would hit the ground running so soon after making his big move in the summer.
Even many of the best players initially take time to settle in a new league, and the English top flight is arguably a bigger improvement than the Portuguese league.
Gokeres still has a decent return so far and his two goals against Atlético could be just what he needs to continue winning with more confidence and scoring more goals.
