Jun Yong Park scored another victory in a truly strange battle at UFC Baku.
“The Iron Turtle” was on the receiving end of the brutal, illegal knee in the second round of the second round with Ismail Naudiev, a foul that occurred after Naudiev had already plunged in for the second time. Judgment Lucas Bosacky intervened to suspend the match with Naurdiev, believing that the fight had been shaken off by his favor.
After a long break in action involving the Bosacki Consulting Judge Herb Dean at Cageside, the decision was made to ding Naurdiev with a two-point penalty, rather than declaring him a disqualification or non-contest. In addition to the confusion, it was unclear whether Park could even see from his left eye after hitting his knee, but the middleweight veteran was allowed to continue.
Park dominated the rest of the contest, winning an unanimous decision via a rare combination of scores 29-26, 29-26, 29-25.
The fighter was just as baffling as the fans that took place in Round 2, so you can see the reaction from social media below.
