Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr knows how much the team misses Stephen Curry.
As they are in their current state, the Golden State Warriors could play without Stephen Curry until Game 6 of the second round series against the Minnesota Timber Wolves.
Curry suffers a hamstring injury and leaves him early in Game 1, and has been on the sidelines with assassins who have since come face to face with the baby.
In his absence, the six times NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler was urged to take command of the team and lead them to victory. But following a back-to-back loss, even head coach Steve Kerr was forced to enter with Butler and Curry.
For about a decade, Curry was the Warriors’ go-to player when he was in a slump during the playoffs. Previously, even without curry, the Warriors had the talent to run the same set under Coach Kerr.
However, for the first time Coach Kerr has someone like Butler leading the team. He leads the team. They have a different playing style than the 4x NBA champions.
With that in mind, Kerr honestly approved Butler’s flaws in one aspect of the court after losing match 3 in the series.
“It’s hard to generate three. You need to get benefits and get a rotation. It’s hard to do it without steph, without point guard and pick and roll,” Kerr said.
“Jimmy clearly produces a lot, but that’s not the same level as Steph stretching his defense.
“So we have to find a way to score more points and produce more shots. We need to look at the tape and understand that,” he added.
The Warriors were defeated 102-97 in the third game of the series, but Jimmy Buckett cannot blame the defeat.
After all, the 35-year-old played 43 minutes, adding 33 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. On top of that, Butler shot a respectable 46.2% off the field.
Given that it’s a five-point defeat, there’s no big gap between the sides, but the mental pressure to get on the court without curry seems to have influenced Dub’s performance.
Now, it’s with Coach Kerr to understand how to ensure that the Warriors are in a proper state of mind so that they don’t end up 3-1 in the series.
