Former Boston Celtics player Jeff Teague believes there will be more deals from his previous team.
It was speculated that the Boston Celtics had to split the roster for financial reasons, even during the playoffs before Jason Tatum’s Achilles injury.
This could have been a tougher decision had the Celtics been held, but their semi-finals combined with Tatum’s injury resulted in a combination of their choice.
The rebuild started with Jrue Holiday trading with the Portland Trail Blazers and Boston landing the cheaper and younger Anfernee Simons.
The view among fans is that Boston “fleeces” Portland. This may be just one of many deals the Celtics will consider.
Jeff Teague says the doors are open for MVP Jalen Brown in the 2024 final to be traded as the Boston Celtics aren’t enough to win the title.
Speaking to the Club 520 podcast, Teague explained:
“It’s over. The injury ruined your timeline. They may move on from that contract to move under the apron.”
Teague believes there are other players who believe the Celtics will also consider moving forward.
He said: “Or Derrick White. One of them. From the money side. Or, he is prone to getting injured.
Joe Mazzulla ensures the Celtics are competitive regardless of what the roster looks like, but they are against it because Jason Tatum is expected to miss the entire season.
“They’ll never do anything next year, that’s over,” Teague added.
Jeff Teague added that he doesn’t believe Jrue Holiday will be staying with the Portland Trail Blazers and is trading with his previous team.
He predicted:
“I like Jrue Holiday as a player, but I don’t want him to be there. I don’t think he’ll stay in this group, I can’t see it.”
