56-fight veteran Ivan Butchinger added another big victory to his resume, submitting Richie Smallen on Saturday at the Octagon 77.
Buchinger and Smullen offer fun front and rear scraps, most of which is done on the mat. Smullen appeared to utilize his grappling from his hands, but it was Butchinger who offered the majority of the attack, fishing repeatedly for submission, landing solid ground and pounds during his time at top control.
Butchinger appeared to be stealing the second round in a slow onslaught of strikes, but after subtracting one point to grab the fence repeatedly, he potentially entered the third round with his scorecard.
However, none of them were important after Butchinger was choked with a dalse choke within two minutes of the third round. Smallen did his best to survive, but in the end he had no choice but to tap out.
Official Results:Ivan Buchinger def. Richie Smullen submitted at 1:40 in Round 1 via D’Arce Choke.
