Tottenham Hotspur hope to agree a new contract with Micky van de Ven.

The 24-year-old defender has been outstanding since joining the club and has now established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League. It’s no surprise that Spurs want to keep him at the club long-term.

His contract runs until 2028 and it will be interesting to see if they can convince him to commit his long-term future to the club. Van de Ven has recently been linked with Real Madrid.

New contract with Micky van de Ven?

Manager Graham Bailey told TBR Football: “I’ve heard that one of Vinay Venkatesham’s priorities is to lock him down before the new year. They don’t want Van de Ven’s name added to the centre-back talks that are already taking place.”

“Spurs know he’s under contract until 2028, so in theory he can’t leave, but they want to keep him happy and Spurs know he’s as good as anyone in England, or even Europe, at the moment.”

Tottenham have performed very well this season and are in third place in the league. They will look to build on their impressive start to the season and fight for the trophy.

They have an ambitious project and will need to sign quality players to achieve that goal. On top of that, they need to keep their best players. Losing the Dutch international will be a huge blow to the club going forward. They will want to keep him at the club for as long as possible and securing a new contract for him would be a boost for the club.

It will be interesting to see if the defender is ready to put pen to paper on a new contract in the coming months.
