Chelsea did a lot of business during the summer transfer, but one player who didn’t join Enzo Maresca’s team was Fermin Lopez. The Barcelona midfielder was strongly linked to his move to Stamford Bridge, but he ultimately chose to stay at the club he was a boy.
Chelsea made an offer for Lopez, who was abandoned by Barcelona at the end of the summer, but it could have been a deal if the player expressed his desire to join the Premier League Giants. But he didn’t.
Despite the failed attempts, Chelsea are said to be still interested in Lopez, but the efforts made in January could also be lacking.
Fermin Lopez repeats Barcelona’s desires in Chelsea’s interest
After Barcelona beat Valencia 6-0 on Sunday, he scored twice, Lopez revealed that he always wants to stay with the La Liga Giants despite the interest seen by him from Chelsea, according to Football Espania.
“I’ve always wanted to be here, I’ll fight to be here for so many years. The message from my manager is the same as last year. I’ll continue to move forward with strength and humility. We’re on the right path and we have to continue like this.
“I never doubted I was here. There was always speculation about my future in Barcelona. It’s all part of football. I’m very calm about it and I’m so happy to be here.”
It appears that Chelsea will need to see elsewhere in their efforts to sign a new attack midfielder that is likely to be re-examined in 2026 after failing bids for Xavi Simons and Lopez. Who can’t be seen lined up at the boss of Stamford Bridge.
