Ivica Zubac reflects on his time with the Los Angeles Lakers and how he wished he had done something different early in his career.
Ivica Zubac has established himself as one of the most important players for the LA Clippers. The Croatian center will be extremely important for them next season.
The center will have a big advantage next season, as the Clippers brought in Brook Lopez to back up Zubac off the bench.
On top of that, Zubac lost fat and gained muscle this offseason, making him the healthiest player on the Clippers roster.
Zubac is starting to show his worth, not just from a numbers standpoint, but also from a maturity standpoint. It’s a far cry from what he used to do with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Before joining the LA Clippers, Ivica Zubac was with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he played the first few years of his career.
And during the LA Clippers’ media day, Zubac admitted he wished things had been handled differently, especially when it came to asking questions and listening to the veterans on the roster.
“Ask more questions. In my rookie year, obviously, there were a lot of veterans, like Metta World Peace, Nick Young, Luol Deng.
“I was so impressed with the league, the players, everything. ‘Wow, I was watching their games and now I’m playing with them.’
“I woke up in the middle of the night and was so impressed with everything that I didn’t want to ask any questions.
“I feel like it wasn’t until my third year with the Clippers that I started learning the game and how this league works.
“I was actually playing, and once you start playing and get into the rotation, you get more comfortable asking questions and learning things.
“I say ask as many questions as you need, because all the veterans will help you. They like to help the younger players. Ask as many questions as you need.”
Ivica Zubac, 28, has been in the NBA for almost 10 years and is on the verge of being considered an NBA veteran.
But the Clippers currently have the oldest roster in NBA history, meaning there are more veterans around Zubac than ever before.
Unlike his time with the Lakers, Zubac will have to make sure to ask questions of the team’s current and former superstars as he works to improve the team.
Players like Chris Paul and James Harden, along with Brook Lopez, could help Zubac reach the next level if he follows their advice.
