The Los Angeles Lakers have a star who improved their shooting ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season.
Over the past few seasons, the Los Angeles Lakers have been looking for elite shooters who can boost their roster.
This offseason, the Lakers have tried their luck again, and to the surprise of many fans, it is one of their existing players who have improved his shooting.
Yes, it’s nothing more than veteran forward Jarred Vanderbilt.
Vanderbilt is mostly known as an elite defender, and that’s how the Lakers have used him over the past two and a half seasons.
But in modern times, every player should aim to become an average 3-point shooter. However, Vand has consistently failed in that department.
After all, he shot just 28.1% from Deep, but his league average was 36.0% in the 2024-25 NBA season. Jake Laravia claims that Vanderbilt has improved this weakness in his game towards a new campaign.
Additionally, the two-word response to Vanderbilt’s training session video of Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morante suggests the same.
Morant himself isn’t the best 3-point shooter in the league, but he is still a top star. As a result, gaining praise from Morant would certainly serve as a morale booster for Vanderbilt.
Last season, Vanderbilt dealt with multiple injuries and was limited to just 36 games in the regular season. He averaged 4.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per Lakers game.
Coach JJ Redick wants to leave it in the past as he has only been able to praise Vanderbilt following the first two days of NBA training camp.
“The Vand is currently moving around in the daytime and noon. Even at the end of the season, his growth and how he works this summer is important.
“It’s clear in the first two days of camp,” Reddick said via ESPN’s Dave McMenamine.
Vanderbilt may not be the top star of the Lakers, but his fitness can really get through and break the purple and gold season.
