The final turn accident and ride device will issue a complicated first day of Jack Miller’s 2025 Italian MotoGP.
Pramac Yamaha Rider launched Mugello Weekend in 11th place on FP1, but the important afternoon time (determines a direct qualifying 2 entries) was confused by a crash in the spare M1 and technical issues.
“Jack’s crash probably cost him the opportunity to go straight to the second quarter, but his pace since this morning suggests he can fight his way through Q1 tomorrow.
Instead, the Australian was left in 13th, only 0.807 seconds behind leader Maverick Vinarus (Tech3 KTM).
“I’m sorry about the crash, but it definitely affected the good work we were doing. Thankfully, I just hit myself (not injured), and on the butt,” Miller said.
“On the second bike, there was a minor problem with the ride height device not working properly.
“But overall, the bike is working well. We still struggle a bit with the brakes and the front-end feel, but after the improvements in work done in the tests, we’ve seen an improvement in traction, which is historically the biggest issue.
“If we can fix that little problem, and if the person in the box already has some ideas, I think we can do well.”
Miller was overtaken by his teammate Miguel Oliveira. He missed the top 10 with just 0.125 seconds.
“It was a good sign that it was very close to the top 10. There was speed, but I missed some lines as it wasn’t completely comfortable in front,” Oliveira said.
“I was struggling to stop the bike at the corner entry so I couldn’t carry speed to the corner.
“Tomorrow we need to focus on maximizing what our bikes do best and hope we can put the brakes on and use that to compete for these two Q2 spots.”
Bolsoy added:
“He went through tough stretches, but now we see him fully back and ready to contribute strongly to the team’s outcome, which will really make him and his crew happy.
“There are still some things to refine tomorrow, but we’re not far away. That’s encouraging.”
Fabio Cartararo rebelled against a shoulder injury to be the fastest Yamaha in the fifth time, while Monster’s teammate Alex Lyns is also heading for qualifying 2 in 7th place.
