Jake Paul and Matchroom Boxing settled the differences and called for fire in a duel lawsuit with federal court in New York.
In documents filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, lawyers for all involved parties requested dismissal after previously issued notices that a settlement agreement was reached.
Every submission on Monday:
“This is hereby provided and agreed by the signed counsel of the party’s records hereby hereby, pursuant to Rule 41(a)(1)(ii), of Federal Civil Procedure, that the above-captioned action will be dismissed with bias and no costs or fees will be dismissed by either party.”
In another filing on March 18, Paul and Matchroom Boxing attorneys led by Eddie Hearn, and Judge Glenn Feldman, informed the court that the settlement agreement had reached and all parties would apply for dismissal.
Published by: “Plaintiff’s Matchroom Boxing Limited (“Matchroom”) and Edward John Hearn (“Hern”), Plaintiff Interbner Grenfeldman (“Feldman”) (collectively, “Plaintiff”), and Defendant Jake Paul (“Paul”), and Defendant Jake Paul (“Paul”), and have been appointed to this letter. The parties will submit dismissal provisions prior to March 31, 2025. ”
The entire ordeal centered around another match between Olexandre Usaik and Anthony Joshua, sparking a controversial decision over the first fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano in 2022, centering on Paul’s comments and allegations.
The first lawsuit filed by Matchroom Boxing alleged that Paul issued a defamatory statement that Matchroom Boxing “bribed” the boxing judge.
In an interview, Paul said, “Clearly (Grenfeldman) is being paid for matchroom boxing.” Paul argued that it was a “crimination of (he did not underestimate)” but added, “It’s so blatantly obvious, they haven’t even tried to hide it.”
As a result, Matchroom Boxing filed a honour-loss lawsuit against Paul and Feldman, actually joined the lawsuit in October 2022 as co-commander.
Despite the ongoing lawsuit, Paul’s most valuable promotion and Hearn’s matchroom boxing were able to work together to promote Taylor and Serrano’s rematch this November.
A settlement meeting was originally scheduled for this December after U.S. District Court Judge Paul Gardeff for the Southern District of New York refused Paul’s motion to dismiss the case in September.
The terms of the settlement agreement have not been made clear, but all parties appear to be satisfied with the outcome after being fired by the court.
