Entering what the Boston Celtics have been set to be the most challenging season of the decade, Jaylen Brown sent a message of thanks to his former teammate.
The Boston Celtics knew that the moment Jason Tatum fell down with Achilles’ injury, they had to call time on the 2024 NBA Championship roster.
This offseason, the Celtics traded Jrue’s holiday for the Portland Trail Blazers in a highly anticipated move, taking into account his age.
They followed this by trading Kristaps Porzingis for the Atlanta Hawks. The departure continued, with backup centre Luke Cornett joining the San Antonio Spurs.
And with Al Horford approaching the Golden State Warriors, he hasn’t been on the championship roster much for a year now.
Jalen Brown spoke in his stream about what summer was like for the Boston Celtics. He called it a “solution summer” ahead of the team’s new era.
However, the former Finals MVP also acknowledged, thanked and lamented his Celtics Championship teammate.
“This summer was crazy. A healing summer. It’s a new era for the Celtics. It feels like a new era. Half of our team is gone.
“I wish them the best. I would thank them. They were great teammates. It’s a bit sad to see them go. It’s a new era, everything has changed, it’s changed… we’ll see.”
The Boston Celtics, who have Jason Tatum in the entire season to come, know they can’t compete for the NBA championship.
Their expectations this season are competitive, giving some of the younger players more reps to allow them to develop ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Payton Pritchard has taken the Celtics starting role, but there’s no mistake about that. This is Jalen Brown’s team. He is responsible for their successes and failures.
The Celtics are not title contenders this season, but there are still standards that Brown and the team must adhere to.
