Jalen Brunson spoke about his experience with Mike Brown immediately after the New York Knicks’ final preseason game.
The New York Knicks will embark on a new journey next season, which will be Mike Brown’s first season as head coach.
Mike Brown has criticized the Knicks numerous times this preseason, indicating he intends to hold the team accountable if it doesn’t do the right thing.
Legendary announcer Kevin Harlan questioned why the Knicks hired Brown in the first place when former coach Tom Thibodeau was doing so well.
However, it appears the New York Knicks have accepted, as Mikal Bridges has praised Brown as a head coach. And now, Jalen Brunson has given his reaction to playing under Brown’s learning tree.
Jalen Brunson spoke after the New York Knicks’ preseason closer against the Charlotte Hornets, which the Knicks won 113-108.
Brunson, who scored 31 points in the win, was asked how he would describe his first preseason under coach Mike Brown. Although he called this period a successful period, he emphasized that there is still a long way to go.
“It’s a success. We’re learning and getting better. We have a long way to go, but he did it his way and we have to follow suit.”
Brunson has been described multiple times by Mike Brown as the team’s mainstay. It’s clear that the head coach is using Brunson to get the most out of his team.
One NBA official even said Brown shouldn’t change the Knicks’ offense to take the ball out of Brunson’s hands. And from what we saw in the preseason, he has no plans to do that.
It’s no exaggeration to say that the Knicks are the favorites to win the East Division, considering the quality of their roster, their chances in the playoffs, and their rivals.
Last season, the Knicks advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000. The two teams that faced off in the playoffs, the Celtics and Pacers, will not be competing for the title.
They have a lot to prove considering their only competition is the Cleveland Cavaliers, a team that hasn’t made it past the second round of the playoffs since they put the team together.
As it stands, the East is wide open and up for grabs. All the Knicks have to do is play at the level we expect and they will make it to the NBA Finals.
