Los Angeles Lakers legend James Worthy believes in players who believe they have the toughest job against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The La Lakers dug into the physicality of the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Playoffs Series, winning 94-85.
The low-scoring game was enough for the Lakers, inspired by Luka Doncic’s 31 points.
Austin Reeves scored another sub-par scoring performance, a medium 16 points, but showed enough to encourage Lakers fans.
Lakers legend James Worthy believes Austin Reeves has a big challenge due to the physical defense that Minnesota can throw at him.
He pointed out how Reaves received a slow charge and was impressed by how he managed to stand up to the test and get some open looks.
Worthy told the Spectrum Lakers Post Games show:
“I think he has the biggest challenge. He’s got him a little stronger, a little taller, and someone who protects his wingspan.
“You can say he’s not denied. It was a big game for Austin. Especially on the defensive side, he’s always getting a big charge at some point in the game. I think Austin is fine.”
The Reaves finished the night with 16-5-5, the third-highest contributor on the low-scoring night, after Luka Doncic’s 31 and Lebron James ’21.
Worthy has previously expressed confidence in Austin Reeves, who believes the Lakers star will get better, and claims that his poor shooting night will fix itself.
Reeves was 3-0-6 and just 7-14 off the field overall, but the fact that he managed to take off the shot was a reason to be positive.
Worthy said:
After Game 1, former NBA star Kendrick Perkins pointed out how Reeves was taken from a Minnesota game.
The numbers weren’t that pretty in Game 2, but the opportunity was there and Reaves worked hard on both ends to be more effective.
