Jean Silva is 4-0 in the UFC and cashing out an extra $100,000 in a performance bonus, with every victory meaning he’s one step closer to his ultimate dream. UFC featherweight belt? Certainly, that’s not all. In fact, it’s how you’ll have thousands of dollars of fights and pockets and eventually walk the aisle with his partner, and coach and Carolina de Castro.
Silva faced Bryce Mitchell on the main card portion of UFC 314, which fell from Miami on Saturday, and said the Brazilians were not worried about going into the cage for the fight.
“I’m eager to be trained every day (in the gym) because this is where my dreams come true,” Silva told MMA Fighting. “My biggest dream is to get married in the church, so being here shows that I’m approaching it. And I live the things I like. I can train every day, wake up and train by being paid my bills. It’s literally my dream.
“I can (fight) it as soon as possible, so I can go back here (to the gym) and do this again and again. If it lasts three rounds, it’s only 15 minutes. No worries. I’m happy, motivated.”
When asked if he needed to win at UFC 314, he said that making money to get married at church one day was already won.
“Forget it,” Silva said. “We don’t have Plan A or Plan B. Plan A: You can’t lose. Plan B: You’ll go back to Plan A. And yes, when you get paid, you’ll get closer to a dream of marrying your wife. At least $1,000,000, right?
“If you think about it, we can do it only once in life: born, die, and marry in the church. You can literally be born once. You are born only once, you can die only once, you can marry only once before God.
Silva passes Mitchell at Miami’s Kaya Center and moves 5-0 in the UFC and takes a step into the featherweight ladder in the vacant throne battle between Alexander Volkanovsky and Diego Lopez.
Silva said it would be difficult to answer if they expect to charge UFC money before receiving their long-awaited wedding, but they wouldn’t be surprised if both happened on the same day.
“My path is being speeded up with this company, so who knows?” Silva said. “Who knows if your wife is surprised? That day I say, ‘Now we have a wedding so I’ll dress up.’ After that, the UFC (postwar) party will become my wedding party. ”
