Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd talks about the team that won the NBA Draft Lottery.
The Dallas Mavericks, who entered the 11th best odds in the NBA Draft lottery, surged to land their first pick.
Maverick is in pole position to land Cooper Flag and is expected to use the pick instead of trading him.
Head coach Jason Kidd is still giving solid signs as he discusses Duke’s outlook in a new interview.
Jason Kidd is excited to have the opportunity to bring in Cooper Flag, the most exciting prospect in college basketball.
Talk to Dan Patrick’s show and explains that Kidd didn’t expect much from the lottery and didn’t even see it.
“We felt that we would stay 11 at about 11, just in the way things were going for us this year.
Now, on his first overall pick, Kidd was asked about the Cooper Flag and explained that he thought the three experienced Mavericks players who previously won the title would help with the new arrival.
“He won’t be 19 until December, so you just need to understand that he’s young, but he’s extremely talented and can play both ends.
“And you can have older players and when I say that, you’re out of respect, they’re not dinosaurs, but 30 years old, Ky, ads, people here can definitely help him in the process of going through a rookie season.”
In particular, Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis are both number one picks in their careers, and you can resonate with the challenges Flagg encounters.
Kidd added that he thinks landing with the Dallas Mavericks is great news for Cooper Flag. Because he puts less pressure than one of the teams who are more desperate to land him, like the Utah Jazz and the Washington Wizard.
However, he had one warning against Flagg. This Maverick team has different types of pressure to compete for a championship.
He said: “I think this is a great situation for him. When we talk about the different people already on our team, I think the pressure of life to number one is much easier with the talent around him.
“When I talk about other clubs, he has to produce at a high level right away, and I think this is a great situation for him to grow his game.
After Kidd’s comment, he explained that while the Mavericks flag appears inevitable, Luka Donsic only had an hour notice before it was traded. The draft will take place on June 26th.
