One of the biggest talking points of the 2025 NBA offseason was the work Luka Doncic put into getting in shape.
Doncic shocked fans with his new physique, revealing how toned and muscular he has become.
After the Dallas Mavericks cited fitness as a reason for trading Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, many felt Doncic was motivated to be in top shape.
Doncic has never been this good during his time with the Dallas Mavericks. So one would imagine they would be a little dissatisfied with his new endeavor.
Jason Kidd spoke to reporters before the preseason game between the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers. Of course, Kidd had to address the elephant in the room, Luka Doncic.
Rather than share our frustration with Luka Doncic’s rise to form with the Los Angeles Lakers, we wished him well and praised him for striving to be the best he can be.
“What Luka did physically this summer was amazing. His game got even better. We respect what Luka did this summer. It’s amazing what Luka did this summer.”
“We wish him the best of luck. He’s on the other side. He’s going to try to kick our butts, we’re going to try to kick his ass. It’s just a competitor… Give him credit — he’s learning and he wants to be the best.
“We’ll play him four times and have a chance to stop him…”
When Luka Doncic talked about playing for the Dallas Mavericks in the future, he admitted there would always be mixed feelings about playing against his former team.
However, given the acrimonious nature of his departure, Doncic will likely want to prove the Mavericks wrong and help the Lakers win an NBA championship.
If Doncic can perform at a high level, the sky is the limit. Gilbert Arenas believes Luka Doncic will join LeBron James as the NBA’s leading scorer in and out of the NBA lineup, given his age and health.
However, Doncic won’t win the scoring title, as he has won this award before. Instead, he hopes to finally lift the Larry O’Brien Trophy next June.
