According to the latest report, Jasprit Bamura, pacespeerhead of the Indian National Cricket Team, has rejected Rohit Sharma’s test captain after the retirement of Rohit Sharma.
India’s captain Rohit Sharma recently announced his decision to retire from the longest form of the game, with several candidates appearing to take over the test captain, including Jasprit Bumrah.

Jasprit Bumrah rejects Indian test captain
Some of them like Jasprit Bumrah, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul have leadership skills, and their names have been debated as an alternative to Rohit Sharma.
Jasprit Bumrah was one of the top candidates for this role as he served as Rohit Sharma’s aide at Red-Ball Cricket. However, he has no interest in captaining the team, so he has come out of the race.
According to a report from Sky Sports News, Bumrah refused to be a test captain and doesn’t want to promise to play all five tests in the series with England due to his injuries issues and workload.
“Jasprit Bumrah has opted out of India’s next test captain, as Sky Sports News understands Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant are on the forefront.
Bumura won in Perth and lost in Sydney to lead India in two matches, the Border and Gabaskar Trophy 2024-25. Before that, he led India in one Test match against England in 2022.
Shubman Gill becomes captain and vice captain of Rishabh Pants India
According to some media, Shubman Gill has been mostly confirmed as the new captain of the Indian National Cricket team in Test Cricket.
All announcements regarding his appointment will be made at a press conference soon, with the Indian team on the tour of England being announced.
Shubman Gill will be supported by major test team Rishabh Pant as Star Wicket Keeper Batman has been finalized as vice captain.

Recently Sunil Gavaskar received praise from Rohit Sharma after his retirement from the test. The batting legend emphasized the impact his “Banbaiya Hindi” had on young people, saying that the Indian tricolors flew proudly under his leadership. In his column at noon, Sunil Gavaskar wrote:
“As captain, his laidback attitude concealed the steel’s determination to win. His banbaiya Hindi conveyed a harsh message to the younger members of his team in a humorous way. Not only the cricket-loving public, but even the media, misses interactions with him at the end of the day.”
