Jaylen Brown’s comments about the Boston Celtics winning the 2024 NBA Finals appeared to be aimed at Luka Doncic.
The Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks faced off in the 2024 NBA Finals. Both teams had star duos and fought to be the best in the NBA.
In the end, the Celtics defeated the Mavericks to win the NBA championship, although it wasn’t a close one, and this was Luka Doncic’s last appearance in the playoffs with the Mavericks.
Doncic and Kyrie Irving spent some time together after the NBA Finals, believing in each other’s ability to return to that spot, but the Mavericks ended up trading Doncic the following season.
Doncic’s poor performance was the first sign of discontent within the Mavericks organization. And that may be due to the Celtics’ strategy with Luka Doncic.
Jaylen Brown talked on his livestream about the Boston Celtics watching a nature documentary about killer whales and their hunting patterns before playoff games.
Like the Orcas, the Celtics focused on finding their “seals,” or weaknesses. And he said they did that against the Dallas Mavericks, hinting that it was Luka Doncic given how targeted he was.
“You’ll see this (orcas) in the pregame footage because they’re all working together to attack the weak spots.
“And that’s what we did in basketball… finding the seal. Every team has a seal, every team has a weakness… That’s actually how we won the NBA Finals. I’m not going to lie. That was our offense.”
Luka Doncic looked very poor in the NBA Finals by the Boston Celtics. So how fitting that eight months later he found himself traded to his archrival, the Los Angeles Lakers.
Doncic, now with the Lakers, is looking to lead the franchise to its 18th NBA championship, which would tie him with the Celtics for the most titles in history.
That would be the ultimate revenge for Luka, and it would be even better if he could do it by defeating the Celtics in the NBA Finals.
That won’t happen this season because Jayson Tatum is out with an injury, and the Celtics are not expected to compete for the NBA championship next season. But Doncic will be looking for revenge.
