Jeff Teague believes that even if the Warriors bring Jonathan Cuminga back to the future, Steve Kerr won’t be much.
Many believe that the problem between Jonathan Cuminga and the Golden State Warriors stems from the treatment the former received from head coach Steve Kerr.
The Warriors coach benched the young stars for most of last season. And when he got the chance, Kuminga proved Kerr wrong with a great performance.
After the season, Kuminga revealed that Kerr hopes he will improve on his new season. However, there are doubts as to whether Kuminga will return to warrior.
Jeff Teague believes it’s stupid for the Warriors to not reclaim Kuminga, especially as his predictions for Steve Kerr may come to fruition soon.
On a podcast, Jeff Teague spoke about the Jonathan Kuminga stalemate facing the Golden State Warriors. He believes that Kerr and Kuminga don’t like each other at all.
But the Warriors front office can tell Carr to play him anyway. Teague then predicted that Steve Kerr hadn’t been working for too long, and that Stephen Curry would be gone by the time he retired.
“It’s clear (Jonathan Cuminga and Steve Kerr don’t get along well)… He doesn’t choose him to play, but the management can do that.
“They went in and said, ‘Cuminga gets 25 minutes a night. You understand that. I don’t care how he gets it, but he gets 25 minutes a night.”
“Steve Kerr will come out of there anyway in a few years… They’re going to let Steve Kerr go, or Steve Kerr isn’t saying he can’t coach another team.
“When Steph leaves, Steve Kerr is gone. He’s not there. He won’t coach without Stephen Curry.”
Even if Jeff Teague is true about Steve Kerr and Stephen Curry, Jonathan Cuminga doesn’t have much time to waste.
While he is on the bench, much of his career is gone, hoping to make a few minutes under Kerr’s careful eyes.
However, Kerr has not been impressed with Kuminga so far. And despite Kuminga’s strong performance, Kerr refuses to make him a key player.
As a result, moving forward from the Cuminga warriors is Kuminga’s greatest benefit, even if it is not immediate or if trade is needed in a few months.
