Former NBA All-Star Jeff Teague was overwhelmed by the ongoing debate about Dillon Brooks, who targeted Stephen Curry’s hand injury.
The Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors are currently engaged in an excellent first-round playoff series, with many topics coming closer.
Most notably after the Rockets won Game 5 131-116 was in relation to Curry’s right hand. He feels that his opposition is intentionally trying to make it worse.
Some people question whether this is sportsman-like, while others think it’s simply part of the game. This is what Teague believes…
Teague was the NBA’s starting caliber point guard known for his scoring and playmaking beyond his defense.
However, the 26-year-old is also solid on that side of the floor, and although he has kept curry many times in his career, he can relate to the Rockets security guards in this series.
He fully supported Brooks’ attempt to hurt Curry’s hand due to the simple fact that the team is likely to win the game.
Teague explained in his podcast:
“I’ll grab his hand whenever he approaches the screen.
“Whenever I’m trying to reach for a shot, I’ll swipe. If you don’t want to dribble with my left hand, guess what I’m trying to do.”
Curry’s hands have similar numbers in the regular season in these playoffs, so it doesn’t really affect the game.
That being said, we’re used to seeing great players like Curry raise their games when the postseason comes.
statistics | Min | PTS | FG% | 3p% | ft% | Reb | AST |
2024-25 Regular Season | 32.2 | 24.5 | 44.8 | 39.7 | 93.3 | 4.4 | 6.0 |
2024-25 Playoffs | 36.0 | 23.4 | 48.8 | 39.6 | 90.0 | 4.8 | 6.2 |
So far, the 37-year-old’s inability to do so may have something to do with his discomfort and Rocket’s solid defense.
Either way, it’s fair to expect Curry to improve by 23 points per game in the remaining games/s and future rounds.
In comparison, he averaged 30.5 points in the 2022-23 season, when the Warriors won the championship after beating the Boston Celtics in six games in the final.
