Jena Bishop gave an impressive performance at the PFL World Tournament on Friday night, securing a victory of refined submission against Ekaterina Shakarova.
After a short exchange of legs, Shakarova wanted to change the level and put things down on the mat. The bishop defended, stumbling over Shakaroba, bringing her back to the mat and soon landing on Full Mount. Shakarova gave up on her and gave up on her to defend her, and soon found herself defending naked chalk.
Shakarova defended the position and turned it around, but Bishop quickly regained her method. It didn’t take long for Shakarova to shoot again. Bishop returned to the canvas after just over two minutes to get to the opening round. The bishop fished for submission and teased the triangular chalk before switching to heel hooks, but Shakarova defended the bishop’s subhunting as an opportunity to land defensive ground and pounds.
The round ended with the bishop almost chocked with a calf slicer, but she was unable to lock it up before the bell.
In the second stanza, it was the bishop who began the first takedown, defeated the Ukrainians, and settled into the half guard. The bishop easily moved to Furumand, and Shakarova protected her. This allowed the bishop to secure yet another RNC, but this time she didn’t let Shakaroba escape.
After a moment of trying to defend Hold, Shakarova forced a halt and sent the bishop to the women’s flyweight tournament final.
Official Results: Jena Bishop Def. At 2:07 of round 2, Ekaterina Shakalova via submission (rear choke).
