Jessica Andredo hopes to get Brazil’s victory when she faces Jasmine Jasdavitius on May 10th, and knows the challenges that Canada’s outlook brings to the UFC 315 table.
Jasudavicius will be riding four straight wins against the Brazilians before his decision over Mayra Bueno Silva, with three wins against the Brazilians, tapping Priscila Cachoeira. Andrade appears by submission in a jiu-jitsu black belt with eight victories of 26 MMA and feels “prepared and relaxed” in such work.
“I’m happier than ever because I don’t have to lose too much weight to compete in this weight class,” Andredo told MMA Fighting. “And I’m ready for Jasmine’s game. I know she’s evolved with her feet, but her strongest weapon is the ground game. And you have to be a truck to defeat me lol.
“I rank higher than Jasudavicius at 125, but she is still a dangerous fight and a dangerous opponent who has won against the three Brazilians,” she continued. “Everyone says, ‘You have to stop her, she’s too cheeky to be a Brazilian.” I get this and can ask for the title shot at 35.
Andrade won the last two strawweight matches in the UFC by knocking out Mackenzie Dern and gaining a split decision over Marina Rodriguez, but soon afterwards lost the decision to flyweight Natalia Silva. The former UFC strawweight champion remains at 125 pounds at UFC 315, but is set to return in the future.
“My goal was to fight at 115, but there’s no girl to fight there,” Andredo said. “Virna (Jandiroba) is someone I don’t want to fight right away. I like her so much, we are friends. And I agree to fight only if it’s for the belt. I’m fighting on both, but my plan is to stay at 115.
“I met Amanda’s dad at the UFC and he told me the UFC offered me a fight with me and they said no if it was because of the belt or something like the title eliminator. Otherwise they wouldn’t fight me.
Andrade’s No. 1 option will be an opportunity to face top-rank strawweight after UFC 315, and returning to winning class from victory over hyped flyweight talent on enemy territory can bring a marvel to her championship aspirations. The ideal scenario for “Bite Estaca” is 4-0 in 2025 with a championship victory in December.
“I even thought they’d give me Alexa (Grasso) now, but she’s booking the fight (Natalia Silva at UFC 315), so I’ll just wait,” Andrade said. “It depends on what happens in my battle right now. I can’t let it go far, finish this before the third round and call someone out.
