The Golden State Warriors, who got off to a 2-0 start this season, have played .500 basketball since then.
The Golden State Warriors were completely defeated by the Oklahoma City Thunder in a game of measuring sticks.
However, they were able to bounce back in style with a big win against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.
Stephen Curry scored 44 points and Jimmy Butler also scored 28 points, continuing to play at a high level despite his age.
The Warriors have had to rely heavily on Curry throughout this season.
Butler has served his role well as the team’s co-star, but can he do more to take the pressure off Curry?
Does Nico Harrison deserve to be fired?
Draymond Green also hasn’t played well. He scored three points in back-to-back games against the Indiana Pacers and Thunder. Then against the Spurs, he scored just six points on 1-of-10 shooting.
While many were quick to criticize the Warriors’ young players like Brandin Podzemski, Kevin O’Connor was quick to defend the Warriors’ young players and make it clear that their older stars are the problem.
“Oh please! Golden State’s problem is old people.
“Not young people.
“Draymond Green has declined and Jimmy Butler hasn’t been able to step up in big moments over the years, which has always been frustrating.
“Steph Curry is still great and deserves to be better.”
The Warriors made a splash when they acquired Butler from the Miami Heat at the trade deadline last season.
It’s clear the Warriors aren’t a real contender as built, but will they be active on the trade market again?
Where will Anthony Davis be traded after Nico Harrison is fired?
Their biggest trade chip is Jonathan Kuminga, who will be eligible for trade starting January 15th. They also have young trade chips in Moses Moody and Podzemski.
Lauri Markkanen has been linked to the Warriors in the past, so perhaps his name could come up again. Or is there a path for the Warriors to be in the Anthony Davis sweepstakes if the Mavericks can trade him?
It will be interesting to see if the Warriors stay aggressive and try to make the most of what’s left of Curry’s career.
