La Lakers head coach JJ Redick provided an update on Luka Donsic’s health after the team’s Game 3 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Slovenians were visibly sick during the game, scoring 17 points in a 6-16 shooting.
LeBron James tried to load by adding 38 points, but his efforts were not enough to contain the Timberwolves team, who secured a 116-104 victory in the night.
Luka Doncic had five turnovers in the game and was unable to make an impact. JJ Redick revealed the reason behind this at his postgame press conference.
Redick revealed that Doncic has been feeling bad for the last 24 hours, which is why it led to a poor outing that is unusual for the Lakers.
The 26-year-old has scored over 30 in six of his last seven playoff games against the Timberwolves, looking solid in the first two games of the series.
However, it was reportedly a stomach bug that slowed him down during the game as he reportedly sat on the bench and spoke to LA Lakers staff about the pain he was experiencing near his abdomen during halftime.
Reddick said: “He hasn’t felt bad for the past 24 hours. I don’t know that his stomach was bothering him last night. He’s been vomiting all afternoon. I don’t know what happened at halftime.
The Lakers’ performance in Game 3 was another indication of how important Don Sic was to the team.
In his absence, James attempted to lift the team heavily, but no one else contributed as Donsic was the only player to score with the double figure.
Reddick, who showed off his intense coaching in Game 2, said that the purple and gold turnovers cost the game.
The score was tied at 103, but the Lakers weren’t enough to pull out, but the Timberwolves, led by Anthony Edwards’ brilliance, appeared in the clutch and took a 2-1 lead in the series.
His 17-point performance in Game 3 was just Donsic’s second-worst playoff scoring performance.
He stepes up things in Game 4 and hopes to help the team steal victory to make things interesting when the team returns to home in Game 5.
