Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick removes major updates on MaxiClever’s recovery.
The biggest asset the Los Angeles Lakers received from midseason trade with the Dallas Mavericks was undoubtedly Luka Donsic.
Doncic settled within the team after playing 28 contests in the iconic purple and gold jerseys, but Laker Nation still has no player actually moving from the same deal.
It was nothing more than 33-year-old German forward Maxiclever who spent his entire career with MAVS before he was traded with the Lakers.
The 2024-25 NBA season has resulted in a series of injuries to the Mavericks, including one that has pushed Maxi Clever forward.
Clever suffered a broken right leg in a match against the Boston Celtics on January 25, 2025. Since then, the veteran forward has been on the sidelines.
Kleber was featured in Lakers fans at the same meeting as Doncic and Markieff Morris, but he has not yet made his debut for the team.
With the regular season over, fans are patiently waiting for the 33-year-old action to be playedoff time. Come to think of it, wishes can be fulfilled more quickly than they would later.
A few weeks ago, Lakers fans were impressed by Clever’s training video. Since then, the Lakers have not offered fresh updates for the forwards.
Well, that changed during the team’s recent practice session ahead of the playoffs. Director JJ Reddick dropped a big update on his return via Jovan Buha in X.
“JJ Reddick said Maxiclever started on-court activities in the group, but he has no schedule for his return yet,” tweeted Buha.
He added: “The Lakers filmed the drills conditioned today – there were no live action – and Clever was a full participant.”
Certainly, he doesn’t have a schedule for his return, but it’s a good indication that he’s a full-time participant in conditioning and filming drills.
In fact, the La Lakers fanbase may see Clever return to court during the playoffs. Ideally he would return to the first round itself, but as Buha reported, there is still no strict timetable.
