Las Vegas – Johnderson Burrito enters the UFC with ESPN 65, which has a sour taste in his mouth.
Saturday, he will compete for the first time in September from the loss of a controversial split decision. Brito (17-4-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) believed that some home cooking would affect Parisian judges along with French fighters. He is willing to let it happen again in UFC Apex, while Pat Sabatini (18-5 MMA, 6-2 UFC).
“Everyone knows I’m not too used to it,” Brito told MMA Junkie and other reporters through an interpreter at a pre-game press conference on Wednesday. “My fights don’t usually go to the third round. I know I won. You know I won. Everyone knows I won.
“…The idea is to actually finish it and keep it off (the judges). You all know that I’ve fought people from every field possible. I have a grappler. I have a striker. I have a wrestler. It doesn’t matter.
The 30-year-old Brito quietly built five consecutive wins before the loss of Gomis. He aims to get back on track on Saturday and hopes to compete more frequently in the future.
“I’ve actually told people ever since I joined the UFC. I was active three or four times a year and wanted to fight,” Burrito said. “I kept asking the UFC, it’s like my beef in the UFC because people don’t want to fight me, so they don’t have a fight or two. There’s so many people in the department and it’s frustrating because no one wants to fight.”
As for the test being Sabatini, Brito sees a clear game plan and a clear style matchup in both ways. Brito aims to complete the former CFFC champion.
“Pat is a tough guy, but he knows what he is and what he’s trying to bring in,” Burrito said. “He tries to incorporate wrestling. He’s ready to do whatever he needs. I’m ready to trade him and ready to wrest him. I can probably see him shooting straight in my legs. I know what he’s going to do.
