LeBron James is already one of the most successful players in NBA history. He already has four championships, but he has the opportunity to win the fifth along with Luka Donsic.
The NBA community knows that LeBron James solidified his legacy as the best of all time. In fact, he and Michael Jordan have an unofficial rivalry, being the greatest player of all time. James has solid arguments, but he only has four championships compared to the six in Jordan.
James still has more title chances as he’s still playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s mainly due to him playing with superstars like Luka Donsic. But people are hypothesizing about better teammates, including Joe Johnson.
He believes James is better off playing with Stephen Curry than Don Sic.
Throughout James’ career, he was a great player. But James had many great teammates, as no one could win the championship himself. That includes legends such as Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and Kyrie Irving.
As a brilliant player himself, Johnson sees James thriving alongside many players. But the idea of putting James and Curry on the same team is one of the best ideas being thrown at. Fans have always wanted them to play with each other, especially with their unique history of being born in Akron, Ohio.
Their play styles synergize with each other, as seen at the 2024 Parisiolmín. With that vision, Johnson believes he can win the championship together.
“If I had to choose, I’ll go to Steph. Not only has it been proven, but he’s just a commander and he’s talking about Steph, so LeBron can really play a natural position.
“Yeah, he will probably score 22-25 points per night, but he will promote.
Despite Johnson’s ideas, James is a player for the Lakers. He is the final year of his contract and has been through the 2025-26 season. The Lakers have a firm promise to Donsic as a long-term star, but James is still here. He is definitely a top 10 player despite being still in his 40s.
They’ve been communicating with each other, and this is a good sign for the future. If James and Donsic are on the same page, the Lakers could be a surprise contender. Most people choose the Oklahoma City Thunder as their favorite, but there is always a chance for James-led teams.
Donsic has learned a lot from James and that should be a sign of good things going forward. The long-term future depends on Donsic, but in the short term James stands out.
