Joel Alvarez will not compete in UFC 315.
“Elphenomeno” announced on Instagram on Sunday that a hand injury had forced him out of a lightweight battle with Benois St. Dennis at a pay-per-view event at Bell Centre in Montreal. News of Alvarez’s withdrawal was first reported by MagicM.

According to Alvarez, he suffered a hand injury that was expected to limit his three-week training. He did not provide the point where he plans to compete next.
It is not yet known whether his match against St. Dennis is scheduled for another date, whether a new opponent will be sought for St. Dennis on Saturday, or whether both fighters will receive new enemies at a later date.
Alvarez (22-3) has won three consecutive wins, winning seven of his last eight fights. All of his professional 22 victories came from knockouts or submissions.
The same applies to St. Dennis (13-3-1, 1 NC). The French fighter has 13 finishes in his name, but he is currently skid two games after losing to Renato Moicano and Dustin Poirier.
The title fight pair is headlined as UFC 315 defends the welterweight championship with Jack Della Maddarena in the main event, and Valentina Shevchenko defends the flyweight title against Manon Fiorot in the co-main event.
