Jofra Archer has officially rejoined the England National Cricket Team in Birmingham prior to the second Test in the ongoing 5-match Test series at Edgbaston. However, Jofra Archer is not playing England’s XI for his second Test against India since July 2nd.
The hosts have already named the immutable play XI who won the first Test against India with five wickets at Headingley for their second Anderson-Tendulkar trophy test at the Edgbaston Stadium. However, the ECB did not reveal why Archer was not named in XI, despite having passed the fitness test.

Now, the Barbados-born First Bowler may not be part of Play XI, but his presence is a huge boost to the English cricket team, a big signal to perform on the third test in the Lord’s Test. He recently revived Sally and Red Ball in 2025 ongoing County Championships.

Meanwhile, as reported by Revsportz, Jofra Archer missed a training session on Monday (June 30) due to a family emergency, but returned on Tuesday (July 1) to pound the net in full rhythm. Under the careful eyes of bowling coach Tim Southey, Archer bowled with full strength in the team’s final practice session at Edbaston.
The fiery paceman bowled primarily to England openers Ben Duckett and Zach Crawley. Before the intense training session, Jofra was seen chatting with Robkey, the managing director of England, suggesting possible plans for an immediate return to India.

Well, England has already decided to take part in a three-pace bowling attack featuring Chris Walks, Brydon Curse and Josh Tan. In particular, Archer has not played any England Test matches since February 2021.

Meanwhile, Chris Walks is excited to see Jofra Archer return to the England squad, despite not playing in the Edbaston Test. The British star said Archer’s return was a huge boost for the team and praised him for working hard during the severe injury phase.

Chris Walks said at a pre-game press conference that SkySports said “it’s great for us as a team, it’s a big boost to bringing him back. When Joff is there, he adds a lot not only as a player, but as a person and a character.”

Woakes believes Archer still has his best years ahead and is excited to see what he can do when he returns to Test cricket. He also highlights how many groups Archer brings to the group, both as a player and as a person, and hopes fans will soon enjoy him taking action again.
