John Jones’ supporters were fully empowered for Dirty Boxing Championship 1 in the official weigh-in version on Friday.
Earlier this week, TMZ Sports revealed that “Bones” had acquired a page from Conor McGregor’s book and became part of DBX ownership. The first official event of the promotion will go down at the Miami hangar on Saturday night, but first competitors, including former UFC stars Yoel Romero and Andrei Arlovsky, have stepped up to measure their respective matches.
Everything had gone without a hitch, but fans were even more engrossed at the fact that John Jones was on stage for measurement and began showering in support of the incontroversial UFC heavyweight champion.
How did they make this accurate? Now, watch yourself through the video below:
Dana White insists that the John Jones vs. Tom Aspinel deal “ends, but not finished.”
The UFC’s interim heavyweight title holders, Jones and Aspinel, have been circling each other for over a year, leaving many to see the two unify their belts within the octagon.
However, Dana White announced on Friday that the transaction was “closed, but not yet.”
Until the battle occurs, the heavyweight leaders are in full force, with both fans and fighter jets increasingly irritated by the situation.
“The world’s heavyweight champions fought in November, and why they haven’t played this matchup is beyond me,” former UFC middleweight title holder Michael Bispin told Talksport. “You only need two months to fight camp. If they don’t announce it right away, they’ll talk about stripping this guy. Other sports… If this is boxing, you’ll get stripped. If you don’t fight the essential challenger, you’ll be stripped. It’s just madness.”
Since winning the heavyweight title in March 2023, “Bones” defended the belt against Stipe Miocic, who hadn’t fought in three and a half years up until that point.
Since John Jones became the heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinoll has fought three times, beating Marcin Taybera, Sergei Pablovic and Curtis Braides via knockouts in the opening round.
