John Jones is not in a hurry to the cage.
The incumbent UFC heavyweight champion, who has been filming a reality show in Thailand recently, is busy outside of the sport, but is curious that everyone else might be fighting Tom Aspinel. Jones previously said in an inexplicable statement that the UFC is fully aware of his plans for the future, but the promotion does not address his future other than Dana White, but he consistently promised that a fight with Aspinel will occur.
On Wednesday, Jones directly addressed questions about his already retired, but did not exactly inspire confidence about when he would compete again.
“I don’t know if I want to call you retired,” Jones wrote on Twitter. “I feel like I can always pop out and show EM. I have taken a lot of breaks throughout my career. My non-fighting identity is very unharmed. I really enjoy life. I’m growing in many ways.”
I’m not sure if you want to retire from that, but I feel like I can always pop out and show EM. I have taken many breaks throughout my career, but my non-fighting identity is very unharmed. I really enjoy life, I’m growing in many ways. https://t.co/xuh1diqvr1

Jones last fought this November, finishing former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic on his first title defense in the division.
Since then, Jones hasn’t been completely committed to fighting again, but White has confidently said many times that he hopes that the future Hall of Famer will integrate the title with the interim champion of Aspinel.
Meanwhile, Aspineol is increasingly excited as he waits even more as his layoffs grow even further in his final fight back when he knocked out British Curtis Braides in July 2024.
Judging by Jones’ latest comments, he doesn’t expect to compete anytime soon. It may force him to make decisions about his own career about how long he is crying to wait for that fight.
