John Jones issued his first statement in response to Dana White and the UFC’s proposal event at the White House.
Jones retired and then did not retire suddenly, following the promotion revealing he would hold a fight card in Washington, DC, despite White always remaining as the greatest fighter of all time on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, DC. On Monday, Jones responded to White via Twitter.
“Despite the odds, I’m still training and optimistic about the possibility of attending a White House event,” Jones wrote. “At the end of the day, Dana is the boss and whether or not they compete that night is his appeal. Dana is really excited about the fight, the doors aren’t completely closed. “Bones” Jones in the first place. ”
Jones competed twice in the heavyweight division, winning a vacant title against Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 in March 2023, and halting Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 this November.
That fight certainly happened, but it wasn’t most matchups as Tom Aspinel sat as interim champion for a year, and the majority of the fanbase wanted to see a unified Jones vs Aspinel match.
Jones retired in June, and Aspinel was promoted to the indisputable champion. Aspinall said he has no interest in facing Jones after facing Gane in the main event of UFC 321 in his first title defense and demanding nearly two years of fight.
