Jonathan Kuminga’s future with the Golden State Warriors has been a major discussion topic in the Bay throughout the offseason.
The 22-year-old was drafted in 2021 and although he had some great performances, Jonathan Cuminga was unable to solidify his position as a starter for the Golden State Warriors.
He intervened through several big minutes last season due to injuries that Dub experienced, but Steve Kerr decided not to play Kuminga in multiple playoff games against the Houston Rocket.
However, in the second round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Kuminga was spotted a few minutes away from the bench, earning 30 points in Game 3.
Since the start of the offseason, he has been rumoured to be on the move, and King Sacramento has expressed interest in acquiring him as part of the trade.
However, the Warriors have refused to make a deal for him and continue to negotiate a contract with him throughout the summer league in Las Vegas.
The Kings’ offer was rejected by the Warriors as they wanted a first-round pick as part of the Cuminga trade.
Since then, reports have suggested that the Warriors may sign an extension with Kuminga and exchange him to get assets from the move.
Stein Line revealed that the Warriors are in discussions with players, but he said the players are expecting $25 million a year.

They write: “The Cuminga retention pattern has attracted the most media attention to this day.
“His agent Aaron Turner has had a lot of discussion with Warriors officials in Las Vegas. The league’s sources tell Steinline, hoping to secure a contract that pays at least $25 million in average annual sals.
“Sources say the Warriors are reluctant to see prices higher over the long-term agreement, while also seeking a level of first-round draft compensation in the theoretical deal that ships Cuminga elsewhere.”
After moving Bradley Beal out of the roster, the Phoenix Suns reportedly are back in the market to add another player, which could be Jonathan Cuminga.
According to Stein Line, Suns representatives contacted the warriors to express their interest in the players.

“Sources say Phoenix is the latest team to express exploratory interest in Kuminga’s sign-and-trade. It’s challenging for the Suns to make such a deal.
“This week we completed the acquisition of Bradley Beal, allowing the Suns to waive and extend the hefty deal owned by the three-time NBA All-Star Guards.
The Sun has long been a Cuminga worshipper, and his addition will certainly boost the roster even further.
His athleticism will add a new layer to the Suns team, but the franchise may not have what the Warriors are looking for in a deal with Kuminga.
Steinlein writes: “The Sun doesn’t seem to own anything like the capital or players that the Golden State is thought to be seeking in exchange for Kuminga, to make it clear.
“But he certainly appeared in trade talks between teams during the season, sources said the Warriors were pursuing a re-acquisition of Kevin Durant.”
