Jonathan Cuminga is a player who has been involved in trade rumors this season.
The 22-year-old has been with the Golden State Warriors since 2021 and found it difficult to find a consistent portion.
He averaged 26.4 minutes in the 2023-24 season. Jonathan Cuminga averaged 16.1 ppg for that campaign for the Warriors.
In the 2024-25 season, he only started 10 out of 10 of the 47 games he played.
Kuminga averaged 16.8 ppg in these games, which looked good in the moment, but this opened rumours of his stint and the Warriors could potentially end.
The Congolese player is a restricted free agent, and teams like the Sacramento Kings have already shown interest in him.
However, Dub has rejected all offers and according to NBA insiders, Kuminga was able to re-sign Warriors only on one condition.
Clutch Point Brett Siegel reported that Kuminga’s future with the Warriors is still uncertain as player representatives met with the team in the Summer League.
However, according to Siegel’s sources, the warriors still want to put Kuminga on the roster.
But that’s difficult as his contract extension pushes up as he approaches the first apron.
“In Kuminga’s case, a return to warrior remains likely. Various high-ranking members of the organization hope to reclaim Kuminga, including owner Joe Lacob.
“In the end, the expectations from rival teams around the NBA are that Kuminga will return to warriors with a mutual understanding that Kuminga will be moved before the February trade deadline,” Siegel added.
The Warriors know that Kuminga is a player with many possibilities and that’s one of the reasons they don’t want to run the signs and trade for him.
Sign him the first extension and trade him will acquire assets to them.
Draymond Green talks about Kuminga’s situation and reveals that players can pay anywhere he goes.

The 22-year-old’s performance in Game 3 against the Minnesota Timberwolves helped him gain praise from Coach Steve Kerr as he dropped 30 points off the bench.
Kuminga wants to join a team whose talent is important and Dub is in winning mode.
They will certainly do the best for the roster, and if that means signing Kuminga and driving him away, they will not only benefit from it, but will give them the opportunity to rebuild after his exit.
