After finishing a top six in the first two races of the weekend at the UK Worldsub, Jonathan Lear says “huge vibrations” as Brake blames the 15th slump in Race 2.
Leah, who missed the opening three rounds of the season due to an ankle injury in the preseason Test, scored the best result in seventh place in the Misano Super Pole race before Donington World Superbike weekend.
At Donington, he was far better, qualifying in the second line in fourth place and finishing in the top six of Race 1 and Super Pole Race.
However, Race 2 was much more difficult.
“It’s a shame we’re finishing the weekend like we did. From Friday afternoon, the team did an incredible job to have a really strong Saturday. Also, this morning I rode well in the Super Pole race (when) I had a great fight with Roca (Andrea Locateri).
“But in Race 2, I knew there was a problem in front of the bike because I felt a lot of vibrations from the warm-up lap when I applied the brakes.
“I wasn’t really sure. I thought the calipers might get heated or disappear when the race happened, but it didn’t go away, especially when the rear grip fell from mid-race distance, and it was very difficult to stop.”
Rea insisted there is still a plus to be taken from the weekend.
“We don’t ruin that much of a weekend.
“So, from now on, it’s upwards.
“I’m grateful for all the hard work on the team. It was extremely hot for everyone. Now there’s no need to wait long to go back to Balaton in a few weeks.”
