According to Paul Joyce of The eraJordan Henderson is set to join Brentford and chose not to trigger a one-year extension option on his contract at Ajax.
The 35-year-old midfielder had plenty of options overseas and in the UK, including his return to his newly promoted boyhood club Sunderland. However, he joined Brentford and chose to play for the team under the command of Keith Andrews took over Thomas Frank as head coach there.
Brentford has just sold Christian Norgaard to Arsenal and needs an experienced man in the middle of the park to fill the gap. He spent more than 12 years at Liverpool, taking over Stephen Gerrard as captain in 2015, raising the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup Trophy for the Reds.
Henderson, who boasts 84 caps for England International, will receive medical care before signing a two-year contract with the bees on Friday.
