Jorge Martin suggests that Marco Betzecchi’s Aprilia Motogp’s bike setting is not working for him, and they say they have “different bikes.”
Betzecchi took pole position on Saturday and won the sprint before finishing second to Marc Marquez at San Marino Motoug.
Meanwhile, Martin came in 11th in qualifying, eighth in the sprint and 13th in the race after serving two long lap penalties that occurred to start a warm-up lap from the pit lane following technical issues with sighting laps.
“We need to understand what happened,” Jorge Martin told Motogp.com about the knee problems he’s witnessing.
“Fortunately, I have nothing to lose right now, so that’s not that important.”
The Spanish rider felt that the top five would have been possible without his race compromises, but he added that he is still working on how to configure the RS-GP to work for him.
“Anyway, it was a great opportunity to make a good top six, top five. That was my target,” he said.
“But I couldn’t do it.
“Anyway, every day I felt a little better on my bike. Today was a good day. I’ve seen it, so it was a great opportunity to understand where I could improve.
“Compared to Marco (Betzekki), we have different bikes. Certainly, his bike works for him. I need to make a bike that works for me. We do that.”
On Monday, we will see tests from the final season of the 2025 MotoGP, but we will be doing the first official test of the year, with the exception of the Sepang test, which Martin only managed 13 laps before crashing.
“I’m really pleased that tomorrow we have a test because it’s really important,” said Aprilia Racing Rider.
“It will be my first official test, for example, in MotoGP season. This will help me grow and take a step forward.”
